A Worshipping Community Since 1859
St. Columban Parish is a Catholic community that follows the Word and Work of Jesus Christ through discipleship, stewardship, and fellowship. It is an understatement to say that our parish has grown significantly since the 1850s, when we were a mission church of St. Andrew in Milford. We have changed, as has the Church universal. Many though we are, we are one body in Christ. We reflect the plurality of our larger church community. Some of us have been here a long time; others have been here a short time. Like the Church throughout the world, we are many but one; like the image of St. Columban in our worship space, we are unfinished. “There is always more to be done – by a prophet, or a painter, or by a parish.”

Registration for incoming new students for kindergarten through 8th grade, enrolling for the 2009-2010 school year, will be held in the School Office;

Please bring the following information with you:
* The child’s original birth certificate
* The child’s original baptismal certificate. When applicable, dates and places of other sacraments
* A non-refundable testing/screening fee of $30
* Name, address, and phone number of child’s current school.
* Name of the current teacher and principal; copy of the child’s latest report card/progress report
To enter the 1st grade the child must be 6 on or before September 30th. To enter kindergarten, the child must be 5 on or before September 30th. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Pat Martin in the School Office, 683-7903.

DONUT SUNDAY- January 4th
Welcome Parishioners from the 20s and 30s!
Next year, each Donut Sunday will honor those parishioners who registered in each of the different decades. On January 4th, we will honor those who registered as parishioners in the 1920’s and 1930’s. Invitations have been mailed to these special guests. If you do not receive an invitation and you have been a registered parishioner for over 80 years, please call the Parish Office so we can update our records and send you an invitation!
Pope Pius XII Religious Emblem
There will be an organizational meeting held in Scout Hall at 6:45 p.m. on January 6th for anyone who is interested in working on the Pope Pius XII religious emblem. This emblem program is designed for Catholic Boy Scouts or Venturers, male or female, who are in high school or college. For more information, please contact Maria Meyer at 683-90105.

150th ANNIVERSARY KICK-OFF
BEGINS WITH A
January 10th after
Help us kick-off our 150th with an old fashioned Pot Luck supper! Bring a covered dish or dessert and join us for lots of food, fun and fellowship! The whole family is invited to celebrate at our big anniversary party!
Youth Renew -
All High School students are invited to participate in this three day retreat which focuses on teens’ relationship with God, self , and others. Please contact Maria Meyer at 683-0105, for more information.
Care for God’s Creation
It is our calling as Catholics to show respect and love for God’s creation. Complete the cycle and Recycle! St. Columban now has three recycle bins: paper, aluminum cans and commingle (glass, metal, plastic). More details are in the November newsletter or call the Parish Office at 683-0105.

Advertisement Space Available in the Weekly Bulletin and the
Ministry to the Sick and Homebound - Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion will bring the word of scripture and the Body of Christ to those unable to attend Sunday mass. Please call the Parish Office to request this ministry either for a short term or an extended term.
Someone in the hospital? - Hospitals are not allowed to notify the parish of your admittance due to the HIPPA law. Please call the Parish Office when you or a loved one are admitted so members of the pastoral staff can visit.
WANTED
St. Columban Stories! If you have stories to share we’d like to hear them. Photographs with or without stories are also welcome! Please e-mail your stories, and/or photos along with your name and day time phone or drop them off at the Parish Office. All photographs will be returned. St. Columban Stories from years gone by. We are in the process of collecting our Parish history. If you have a story to tell, photos to share, memorabilia to be photographed, etc., please contact Ruthy Trusler. All material(s) will be returned. Release forms will be available for those who will give permission to use any of their stories and photographs in an upcoming anniversary book.
