Talents Plan

Changes to the Talents Plan were reviewed and unanimously approved.

Capital Campaign Update

There will be a September rollout with two sessions.  Lennice has been a huge help with paperwork involved in setting up 10 different dates with parishioners before Christmas 2008.

Staff Report

Stewardship Committee

The Stewardship Committee continues to meet and discuss the hopes, visions, time, talents and treasures of St. Columban Community.

Playground

The new playground was installed the week after the parish festival. We are still waiting for the fence to be placed around it for safety. However, if you get a chance to see it, stop by. It is located in front of the convent. Many, many thanks to all the people who made this dream come true for the children of St. Columban Parish.

New Church Elevator

The internal structure for the elevator has been completed. That is, the shaft for the elevator is ready - electrical codes, fire codes, building codes for the State of Ohio and Loveland, etc.  The elevator company was here to inspect it and found it in good order. They also helped us to make all the final decisions on the color of the inside of the elevator, lighting inside, color of external doors, etc. The representative from the company said that it would take approximately three (3) months for installation. We wait in joyful hope.

Kindergarten

The kindergarten room has been completed. A teacher has been hired. Forty students will attend St. Columban’s first kindergarten class for the 2008-2009 academic year. A huge heart-felt thank-you to all those who made this dream possible for our school community.

New Sign for the Corner of Oakland and 48/Paxton

A parishioner has generously given the St. Columban Parish Community money specifically for a sign to be placed at the corner of Oakland and 48/Paxton. We have been working for several months to make this happen but have run into some workable “issues” with the Loveland Council. We are going to appear before Council to ask for a variance on the current code which states that the church is considered “residential property” which does not allow signs much less digital signs.  Hopefully, the new sign will be in place before the holidays.

150th Anniversary Committee

This committee continues to meet and discuss what, exactly, will take place during the upcoming year to mark our 150th anniversary. Once the activities have been established and planned, a copy of such will be given to all members of Pastoral Council.

Parish Picnic

The parish picnic will take place on Sunday, October 5, 2008 in the late afternoon. Mark your calendars for great food, fun, and camaraderie.

Parish Budget for 2007-2008

We ended this past fiscal year in debt. I will be meeting with Clark Buck and the Finance Committee for their collected wisdom on this issue.

 New Business

Need to ID a replacement for Jake Potticary as Youth Ministry representative as his term is expiring.  Fr. Larry will make the appointment.

Lisa Hilliker made a request for someone on PPC to take over her role as Faith Formation liaison.

Future PPC meeting dates are as follows: 9/25/08, 10/23/08, 12/11/08, 1/22/09, 2/26/09, 3/26/09, 4/23/09, 5/28/09.  All are tentatively scheduled from 7:30-9:30 PM in Parish Annex.

Lisa and Joe offered a new process for handling correspondence from parishioners.  PPC member receives correspondence from a parishioner.  PPC member then contacts the appropriate PPC liaison (e.g., contact Worship liaison if it is a liturgical matter).  PPC liaison gives a suggestion - waits for an answer if needed, then contacts the liaison back who in turn contacts the parishioner that the concern has been heard and a possible suggestion has been made.  Please copy Lisa Hilliker on all correspondence emails so that PPC knows that process is being followed and to see if there is a trend in any concerns.

Finance will be revising FY09 parish budget.  PPC will be reviewing and voting on it at a future meeting.

The next meeting will be September 25, 2008 at 7:30 PM in the Parish Annex

Joe Stiles offered to do the opening and closing prayers at that meeting

Rick Morman offered the closing prayer

Meeting adjourned at 10:11 PM

Respectively submitted:  Paul Madix
