Quilting for a Cause - Saturday, May 17 from 9 AM to 4 PM in the Cafeteria. Calling all quilters or others with sewing knowledge who want to help with an Outreach project!  We have fabric that needs to be  turned into usable quilts.  It’s easy and we’ll teach!  Bring a salad or dessert to share for lunch.  Come get to know us and help us convert fabric to quilts. Liturgical Ministers Needed - There will be training sessions in early May for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.  If you know of someone you would like to recommend for this ministry, or for any other liturgical ministry, please call Deacon Jim Miller at the Parish Office, 683-0105, ext. 109.

Come Help Us Dig Up Our Roots!

The Festival Committee needs YOUR help to uncover OUR past!  Building up to our Parish’s 150th Anniversary in 2009, we are in the process of collecting our Parish history.  If you have a story to tell, photos to share, memorabilia to be photographed, etc., please contact Ruthy Trusler. All material(s) will be returned.  Release forms will be available for those who will give permission to use any of their stories and photographs in an upcoming anniversary book.

We need two people or two families to help with Donut Sunday after the 11:30 Mass once a month except during Lent.

Martha Ministry is looking for new volunteers to join one of our church cleaning teams. You will be scheduled for 4 days per year, approximately 3 hours per session. It is a great way to meet new people and/or do volunteer work as a family. For more information, contact Kelly Lipp. lipp5@cinci.rr.com.

All printed material must meet with the approval of St. Columban’s Communication Team. 

        The Feast of the Ascension is still a holy day of obligation.  However, a few years ago this celebration was transferred to the Sunday following the feast day in nearly all of the dioceses in the United States, including Cincinnati.

        Perhaps the more appropriate way to reflect on the ascension is to look beyond the historical date of the event, and to focus instead on how it impacts our daily life.  Christ’s ascension ought to remind us of His victory over death, not just for Him, but for all of us who believe.

Liturgical Minister Schedule Information

Extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion: we are in need of additional Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.  Please contact me to make any recommendations for new ministers.  Training will be held on: Tuesday, May 6th from 7:00 - 9:00 pm; Saturday, May 10th from 9:00 - 11:00 am; and Monday, May 12 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm.  Each new minister will need to attend ONE of the sessions.

Minister Leaders: we are asking ALL MINISTRY LEADERS to attend the first hour of ONE of the above listed training sessions as a review of your ministry.  We also need current Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion who are willing to become ministry Leaders.  Training will be held at the same time as above.

WE NEED MORE USHER/GREETERS:  Please recommend anyone that you feel would be willing to arrive a little early, enthusiastically greet parishioners and visitors as they arrive, guide those approaching the altar for communion, and assist in the passing out of bulletins after Mass.  We need at least six Usher/Greeters at each liturgy.  We need families as well as individuals for this important ministry.

ALL MINISTERS:  Please help us to maintain an adequate number of ministers at all liturgies.  If you see that someone is missing from their assignment, please volunteer to take their place.  We need each one of you.  There should never be a time when we are missing ministers.

Our Liturgical Ministers Schedule is available on our Web Site www.stcolumban.org of “Minister Schedule.”  Please note that it is necessary that any requests for a change in the schedule be received at that the Parish Office no later than the second Monday of the month. Use the green Minister’s Scheduling Information sheets to indicate times when you will be out of town or otherwise unavailable.
