Sacrament: Anointing of the Sick
The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is offered twice a year, not only at St. Columban Parish, but also at the Loveland Health Care Center. Those who were able to come to St. Columban on Saturday, October 20th, were aided by Boy Scouts who helped them with their wheelchairs, walkers, canes or just a sturdy arm to hold onto. The Knights of Columbus provided transportation to and from their residence. Those to be anointed were gathered in front of the church and after the homily Fr. Larry conferred the sacrament by first laying his hands on the person to be anointed. Prayers were said prior to the anointment of one’s forehead and hands.
Mass and the sacrament were offered Sunday, October 21st at the Loveland Health Care Center. Those who received the sacrament sang and offered up petitions and prayers for people they knew and for family. If you would like to become part of this ministry, please contact St. Columban’s Sacristan John McDonald at 683-3106.
