A Worshipping community Since 1859. St. Columban Parish is a Catholic community that follows the Word and Work of Jesus Christ through discipleship, stewardship, and fellowship. It is an understatement to say that our parish has grown significantly since the 1850s, when we were a mission church of St. Andrew in Milford. We have changed, as has the Church universal. Many though we are, we are one body in Christ. We reflect the plurality of our larger church community. Some of us have been here a long time; others have been here a short time. Like the Church throughout the world, we are many but one; like the image of St. Columban in our worship space, we are unfinished. “There is always more to be done – by a prophet, or a painter, or by a parish."

 Music Ministry

Music is an important part of communal worship at St. Columban. Find out how you can contribute your creative talent to liturgical services. For more information, please contact Mary Bellman at the Parish Office: 683-0105 ext. 102.

 Parish Choir

The Parish Choir leads the singing of the assembly at the 9:45 AM liturgy. The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings, September through June. Membership in the choir is open to all parishioners of high school age or older.

 Parish Music Group

The Parish Music Group is a volunteer ensemble of singers and instrumentalsts that plays for several liturgies each month. Membership is open to all parishioner who have the level of musical skills necessary for leading the song of the assembly.

 Instrumentalists

Parishioners who possess the necessary level of musical skill are invited to play at parish liturgies. An audition is required and individual rehearsal time is necessary.

 Handbell Choirs

The Parish Handbell Choir is open to parishioners of all ages who are proficient in reading music. Previous experience ringing with a handbell choir is not necessary. We’ve found this group especially attractive to people who have studied piano or a band instrument. The handbell choir rehearses on Thursday evenings at 5:30 PM and rings at several different liturgies each month.

The School Handbell Choir is open to St. Columban students in grades 5-8. The choir rehearses several times each month after school and rings for liturgies during the school day.

The School Handbell Choir, Liturgy Choir and Percussion Ensemble are groups open to St. Columban students in grades 4-8. Each rehearses several times each month after school and sings for liturgies during the school day.

Membership in each of the handbell choirs is contingent upon the number of ringers who are presently involved.

 Cantors and Psalmists

Cantors lead the singing of the service music, most often the gospel acclamation and the Lamb of God. The Psalmist sings the responsorial psalm at Mass. This ministry is open to parishioners of high school age or older. An audition is required, as is individual preparation.
