Liturgical Minister Schedule Information

July, August and September 2010

Have a very blessed summer!

EXTRAORDINARY  MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION:  The Worship Commission has asked me to clarify its position on the breaking of the bread when a minister has run out.  Before breaking hosts, please check the other bread minister next to you to see if he/she has an over abundance, and if so, have them share some of their extra bread.  If not, then break the bread.  If you need to leave your station to obtain more bread, please tell the next person in line that you will be right back so they know what to expect.  If you finish and have extra bread, please check other bread ministers to see if they are running low and need what you have left.

Cup ministers should also check other ministers for needs before taking their cups to the credence table when they are finished.  Do not pour your excess in another cup but trade off to a minister in need.

This fall changes will be made on the filling of pixes for taking communion to the sick and the homebound.  More information will be provided.

USHER / GREETERS:  Please note that we are no longer scheduling six Usher / Greeters for each weekend Mass, but only an Usher Leader.  We need four or five Usher / Greeters in attendance to volunteer to help each time you attend.  Please let me know your e-mail address for easier communication.

LECTORS:   The scheduling program is designed to list assignments alphabetically.  Lectors assigned to the same Mass may decide among themselves who is to be Lector 1 and who is to be Lector 2.

ALL MINISTERS:  Please help us to maintain an adequate number of ministers at all liturgies.  If you see that someone is missing from their assignment, please volunteer to take their place.  We need each one of you.  There should never be a time when we are missing ministers.

Our liturgical ministers schedule is available on this site under Liturgical Ministries, then the July: “Minister Schedule” (to the left of this Information Schedule) including the August/September "Minister Schedule".  Please note that it is necessary that any requests for a change in the schedule be received at that the parish office no later than the second Monday of the month. Either e-mail me  or use the green Minister’s Scheduling Information sheets (or to the bottom of this web page) to indicate times when you will be out of town or otherwise unavailable.

All of you are a gift to us here at St. Columban. Thank you for your involvement in the parish liturgical ministries offered here.

Deacon Jim Miller
