Worship Commission

The purpose of worship for Roman Catholics is “the glorification of God and the edification of God’s people” as they journey in faith. Sunday after Sunday members of our faith community gather around the tables of Word and Sacrament to “do this in memory of me.”  That is, to hold in memory the command of the Lord to gather, to proclaim the sacred scriptures, and to “eat this bread and drink the cup” until he comes again in glory.

The Worship Commission strives to build the faith of our community through an understanding of our church rituals and traditions, and through the art of finding the most helpful expression of those traditions for our parish and its people. The commission also values liturgy as the central ministry of our parish community from which we all take our identity and from which all other activities of the parish flow.

Worship Commission Minutes

The June Worship Commission Meeting was centered on the Usher/Greeter training that has been put into place. There will be more follow up on the spiritual side of this ministry. Michael Brock has coordinated this and is looking for someone to co-chair this ministry. Chair(s) will be asked to join the Worship Commission.

Additional business included Eucharist to the homebound and an addition of a hand rail at the altar. For more information, please read the June 8, 2010 Worship Commission Minutes. (pdf)

The focus of the May meeting was in regard to Eucharist to the homebound. A new procedure will be introduced. Jim Miller had received a booklet regarding Pyxes to home bound from the Archdiocese Worship Office. Implementation is planned for July.

New business included what to do when the Eucharistic ministers run our of Eucharists and a discussion on a possible rail for the altar. Read this and more in the May 11, 2010 worship commission minutes. (pdf)
