Worship Commission

The purpose of worship for Roman Catholics is “the glorification of God and the edification of God’s people” as they journey in faith. Sunday after Sunday members of our faith community gather around the tables of Word and Sacrament to “do this in memory of me.”  That is, to hold in memory the command of the Lord to gather, to proclaim the sacred scriptures, and to “eat this bread and drink the cup” until he comes again in glory.

The Worship Commission strives to build the faith of our community through an understanding of our church rituals and traditions, and through the art of finding the most helpful expression of those traditions for our parish and its people. The commission also values liturgy as the central ministry of our parish community from which we all take our identity and from which all other activities of the parish flow.

Worship Commission Minutes

At the November 3rd meeting, it was decided that the pyxes would first be put on the credence table before Mass then brought up to altar when plates and cups are brought up to altar and filled by priest or deacon during the fraction rite. There would be a blessing of the ministers after the closing prayer and they would walk out in the procession and be sent out to distribute the communion to the sick.

It's been noted that many names are being entered into the book of the sick. There were 25 people that received the blessing at the Anointing of the Sick Mass. The students that helped out at the service did a great job.The anointing at the nursing home also went well. The date for the spring anointing is at the 11:30 Mass on May 16th. The anointing at the nursing home will be May 23rd.
